Tell me if this sounds familiar...

You’re an accomplished woman. You have the degree, the job, the salary, the house and the life you’ve always wanted, but for some reason it doesn’t feel how you thought it would feel.

Your friends envy the life you’ve created for yourself and yet, at the end of the day, you’re holding back tears and on the verge of a meltdown.

The truth is, you’re overwhelmed, exhausted and burnt out. You’re running on empty and despite the fact that it looks like you “have it all together,” you don’t. You’re still searching for purpose, and what was once the perfect job is now something you dread thinking about and you question whether you were ever truly called to do it in the first place.

I know what it’s like to feel ALL of this and I also know that burnout nearly cost me everything.

And I’m here to tell you that simply identifying this condition and trying things like self-care, improving resilience, time management skills or changing your environment aren’t going to be enough to escape burnout’s devastating impact.

Burnout goes deeper. It’s connected to trauma and until you address that underlying trauma and work through it, burnout will persist.

In my book, Disrupting Burnout: The Professional Woman's Lifeline to Finding Purpose, you’ll discover how to:

• Move through burnout and eliminate it for good
• Release other people’s expectations of you
• Build boundaries that protect you
• Leverage your brilliance for deeper, more soul-satisfying work

The Best Way to Combat Burnout

We’ve been taught that with a little self-care – a spa day, a hike in the woods, a week at the beach – we can fix the burnout we’re feeling.

And this isn’t necessarily wrong. Self-care is important. But it’s incomplete. It’s not a solution.

Because here’s the thing, when you come back from that quick break, you return to the same circumstances and the cycle of burnout continues unabated.

That’s where Disrupting Burnout: The Professional Woman's Lifeline to Finding Purpose comes in.

Most of the remedies for burnout are surface-level tactics, and though they’re not wrong, they’re not complete. You have to go deeper and get to the heart of the matter.

And that’s where the HeartWork strategies I teach in the book come in.

They Include:

● Checking your baggage. That invisible backpack of everything you’ve experienced – trauma, pain, frustration – weighs on you. Learn how to lighten your load and release the ideas, thoughts and lessons that no longer serve you.

● Building your boundaries. In order for boundaries to be effective, you have to first identify what means the most to you and why. Understanding this will help you build boundaries that are in alignment with the life you want.

● Discovering your brilliance. Your brilliance is not your job title, your job description or your salary. It’s that thing you bring to the world like nobody else. It flows freely from you, comes easy to you and it can’t be matched or substituted. Learn how to identify your brilliance and use it to combat burnout.

While these burnout-busting strategies are at the core of the book, I cover so much more about how to tap into your unique purpose and live the life you were meant to live.

Disrupting Burnout: The Professional Woman's Lifeline to Finding Purpose is a spiritual journey based on scripture, but it has all the practical steps and strategies you need for overcoming burnout packed in.

Meet the Woman Behind the Book

I’m Dr. Patrice Buckner Jackson, known as Dr. PBJ, and the founder of EduCare Training and Consulting. It’s my mission to give successful women like you the strategies they need to break destructive cycles so they can finally stop burning out and start living the fulfilled personal and professional lives they deserve and desire.

This book, Disrupting Burnout: The Professional Woman's Lifeline to Finding Purpose, is one way I do that.

I’m also the creator and host of the Disrupting Burnout podcast and the founder and facilitator of the HeartWork Community. I’ve been an educator for almost 25 years and an Executive Coach for more than 10 years.

If you’re feeling unfulfilled, overworked, fatigued and empty inside, I see you and I know that simply taking a day for yourself or putting your head down and working through it isn’t the answer. That’s not going to remedy the burnout you’re feeling.

You need to go deeper. You need to analyze and assess what you’re feeling and why you’re feeling it. You need to create boundaries that are in alignment with what you want. And you need to discover your brilliance and use it to move yourself forward. This is what Disrupting Burnout: The Professional Woman's Lifeline to Finding Purpose teaches you to do and I can’t wait for you to dive in.

“This is not just a book to read for enjoyment, it is a manual meant to guide you through the cycles of burnout with the relationship with Christ woven throughout. As a licensed mental health counselor, I have experienced burnout multiple times. I wish I had a guide such as this many years ago as I experienced my first round of burnout. This book is practical and heartfelt. The, ‘Do the Heartwork,’ sections at the end of each chapter was extremely helpful as these sections helped me do the intentional work. Dr. Patrice Buckner Jackson has poured her heart and soul into this book and it shows! For those experiencing burnout, this is book for you!”

Here’s one last thing I want to say, ...

If you feel like you’re just surviving, burnout is right around the corner.

Maybe you’re having a hard time getting up to go to work. Maybe you’re clocking in late every day. Maybe you’re unmotivated to keep doing the work you’ve been doing for the last 10 years. Maybe the thing that used to excite you feels like a chore.

Maybe you think everything is fine and that this is what life as an adult feels like, but listen, if everything is just ok or fine or you feel like you’re just barely making it, something is wrong because you should be thriving – always – and if you’re not, you need this book.
